Got a request from Bev Passwaters (Secretary of the WAF Band) to pass this info on thier reunion being held 17-22 September, in Kansas City, to our members.

Our numbers are beginning to dwindle and last year just about all of our trombones and low bass instruments  informed us that they were no longer going to be able to play.  One of our trombones is fighting lung cancer and the other broke her jaw a few months before our reunion and was finding it hard to play her instrument.   In the past years we try to get “ringers” from the local community bands and colleges for the instruments we need but sometimes that becomes difficult.   There were a couple of suggestions in our last business meeting about seeing if there were any AFMA Ladies who still play their trombone, or low bass or percussion and would like to join us too practice and play with us at a couple of venues our reunion chair person has set up.  We wouldn’t be able to pay their way to the reunion or for their hotel but it would be a great way to learn who we are and how we got to where we are now.

We are very low in our low brass like we need a couple of Trombones and a Baritone.   We are asking the ladies of AFMA if there is anyone who is still playing their trombone or baritone if they would like to come join us and play with us in the two concerts we will be doing.   We wouldn’t be able to pay their way but we do have special rates at the hotel we are staying.  We’ll send them all the information they need if they want to come and play with us.
