It is with extreme sadness the I report the passing of Daisy Jackson. While the details are sketchy (see below), it is my understanding that she was diagnosed with stage four liver cancer within the past two months, and after a hospital stay received home hospice in her condo. The below may shed a little more light on this tragic loss. Daisy touched so many people around the nation and the globe in such a positive manner that I am at a loss to put into words what she meant to so many.
Sincere best wishes to everyone -- Harry

Greetings to all,
I have just spoken with Daisy's partner, Audrey. There will be a memorial service on the West Coast soon. As soon as it can be arranged, there will be a service with full honors at Arlington National Cemetery. As soon as we know when that will be, George and I will let everyone know.

Yesterday I was able to talk with Audrey and Daisy about 5:30pm. Daisy's earthly spirit left this world about 6pm. She died peacefully with her family and friends surrounding her. One of Audrey's friends was singing to her at the end.

What a gift we have all shared in knowing Daisy.

Gentle hugs and love to you all.
Sondra

Dear Friends,
I just learned from Ann Meyer Baker that our dear friend Daisy Jackson passed away this evening at about 6:00 PM Pacific Time.  There are no plans at this time.  I will share information with you as it becomes available.
Please pass this information along to others who remember her but are not on this list.  Thanks to all who were able to lend support.
Audrey and their daughter will continue to need your support and prayers.
Warm regards,
George Singleton

Hi Jake
Thanks for keeping us posted on Danny Hamilton’s funeral.   I was really surprised at his passing.  I’m fairly new to AFMA and he was so gracious in including any info I sent him on The WAF Band.
I also wanted to let the AFMA folks know that THE WAF Band will be having their reunion in Kansas City Kansas this year from Septe 15-22.   We’ll be giving two concerts there.  One at the Abdallah Temple (Shriners I believe) on 29 September at 5pm and one at the VFW on 20 September at 7pm.   It has been a standard with us to start our reunion with an evening practice session the first night of the reunion and then the following day we practice in the morning and then again in the evening.   By the evening practice we sound like we’ve been playing together for years without any break.    Course this year we aren’t sure at this point who’ll be there to play.  We’ve lost most of our percussion and base so invite young ladies who play the instruments we need from the different colleges or community bands to help us out.
Thanks again for your carrying on
Bev Passwaters
Hi Jack
Would you mind sending out a request for the WAF Band?
We are very low in our low brass like we need a couple of Trombones and a Baritone.   We are asking the ladies of AFMA if there is anyone who is still playing their trombone or baritone if they would like to come join us and play with us in the two concerts we will be doing.   We wouldn’t be able to pay their way but we do have special rates at the hotel we are staying.  We’ll send them all the information they need if they want to come and play with us.
If there is any of the AFMA ladies that are in the area of Kansas City or further out that would like to have a chance to play with us and enjoy a fun time please contact:
Jan Wurst (#1 Conductor of The WAF Band) at    mjanw519@gmail.com,   or Betty Devaugn (Librarian of The WAF Band) at  brdevaughn@juno.com  or Bev Passwaters (Secretary of The WAF Band) at passh20bev@q.com
Thanks so much in advance
Bev Passwaters, Secretary, The WAF Band

I was sent this message from Paul Anderson about the passing of Billy Webb.  No further information is known at this time.

Jake   I was just advised Billy Webb passed away in March. He had cancer. Bill was in 525th AF Band in Waco in the late 50’s, and when the band disbanded in April 1960, went to Williams AFB/Luke AFB in Arizona. He was a reed player. In later years he worked in the insurance business in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. That’s all the information I have.     paul anderson
